Feedback 🗣 (January - March 2023)

So far, my apprenticeship with Swift childcare has been amazing, I started searching for apprenticeships and swift childcare popped up within the next day I was having a meeting with Chanelle Smith and the following day I had an interview with a nursery! Chanelle and Peter are the most kindest people, they helped me throughout the course of the apprenticeship and made the whole process super easy. One of my teacher’s called Shantha is the most helpful and amazing teacher, she helped me throughout all the work, best teacher ever! All the course work and assignments are detailed, and the teachers are lovely to work with, everyone is so helpful. Swift Childcare allocated me to the best nursery I have ever worked in, the manager and workers put their life into their jobs, and I find it so inspiring. I have never worked in a place with people that are so dedicated to their job and profession such as the workers at the nursery, it’s like being a part of a family. Thank you so much Swift Childcare!

Sabrina’s nursery also shared some feedback and stated “Sabrina is very loyal hardworking practitioner, She is ready to learn new things. She is very interested to complete her course work on time. I hope she will be a good team player in our nursery.”

So far, I’m pleasantly surprised at how smoothly my apprenticeship is going. Before it started, I was a little worried at how I would adapt to being in a new setting as well as studying an intensive course but the experience has been really good. Swift have been attentive and considerate. I feel confident contacting the team if I have any worries or concerns. The setting is amazing. I’m learning so much and I’m enjoying learning the ropes and all of the challenges that come along with working in a busy nursery.

I had an amazing and enjoyable 1st week. Everyone was really supportive and nice and the children were lovely and sweet, which has helped me settle in well. I've learnt all the children's names and have gotten a slight idea as to who they're friends with and what they enjoy, though not fully, but I hope to do so soon. I didn't really find learning all they're names too challenging, however on the first 2 days I'll be honest and say that I have mixed some of their names up. However, I completely got the hang of it by the end of the 1st week.

The other staff members have really made me feel welcome and I'm really happy to be working with them. I've enjoyed every part of my week there from playing with the children and getting to know them better. Some of the activities I supported with include setting the beds for the children to use at naptime and sat with them at lunch. I believe was a nice experience getting to know the children and I'm eager to learn and do more. As of challenges, I haven't necessarily faced any as of yet, but when I do, I'm prepared to face them head on.

I honestly don't know if I have a favourite part at the moment, but I have particularly enjoyed reading to the children as they would then proceeded tell me lots of their own stories and just start having a conversation with you, which I found enjoyable.

Overall, I've had loads of fun and I can't wait to keep improving and gain more experience.

I believe I have settled into my setting quite nicely, I have started to learn the routine quite well and all the people are really nice. The staff make the environment comfortable to be in.

Whilst working there for 2 full weeks I have learnt quite a lot, but one thing I’ve learnt that is quite interesting is the different activities you set up in the room contribute to their development as it could do with their English, maths, arts etc. So having some thought before putting things in different areas is quite important. Also my mentor told me that sometimes they do activities which relate to different things the children are interested in at the moment and also if a child went to the farm during the weekend, it could be a good idea to do an activity with play animals.

I’ve enjoyed meeting all the new people and feeling comfortable to be in the environment. It’s a nice place to work and do my course in. I’ve also enjoyed being with the children and being able to read them stories and engage with them.

A challenge I have overcome is going into a new setting, meeting new people and doing a very different thing to what I’m used to. it was a very out of my comfort zone situation to begin with but now I enjoy it and learning new things, it can become overwhelming at times with the all the things I need to learn but it’ll become easier as I adjust to it.
